The historic buildings at 456 Front Street, a livery barn which dates back to the late 1800's and a 1930's-era gas station have been remodeled to accommodate distinctive retail shops.

Old Red Barn Spaces on the main and second floor are available for antique dealers and for artists to display their craft. The massive post and beam construction and wooden floors offer an attractive western backdrop for your unique merchandise. The barn structure is that of the historic McLaughlin Livery and Feed Stable.

The other attractions at 456 Front Street will lure and hold your potential customers:

Silver Scoop Creamery An old fashioned soda fountain serving delicious ice cream, sodas, coffee, and baked goods. Beautiful maple woodwork and antiques decorate this unique establishment.
“La Fuente” A Spanish-style courtyard, with a four-tiered fountain at the center, gives tourists a place to sit and enjoy the fine Rocky Mountain air and sun. Colorado Mountain artists display their craft during the summer months.
Art Gallery We offer a wide variety of original paintings and sculptures by Colorado artists. Also featured are antique photographs and nature prints.
The Old Muleskinner Huge fir beams, supporting the roof, give this shop a rugged mountain look.

Why Fairplay?

Fairplay is known as the crossroads of the Central Mountain Region. The town receives heavy through traffic along highways US 285 and Colorado 9 during the summer tourist and winter ski seasons. A recent study indicates that at least 5,000 vehicles pass through Fairplay per day during the busy summer. Each year there are 2.2 million visitors to Pike National Forest, over half a million visitors to the Antero, Eleven-Mile, Tarryall, and Spinney reservoirs, and an ever increasing number of campers, hikers, and mountain bikers.

Each season over 24,000 tourists visit the South Park City Museum (Colorado’s most authentic reconstruction of a gold rush mining town). Most visitors to the museum will walk down Front Street, be attracted by the inviting southwestern courtyard, and come into The Old Red Barn to shop.
